Browser games in October 2026

Foundplay, published

Foundplay listed 2,527 free browser games by the end of October 2026 and counted 194,115 plays on them from October 8 to October 31. Half of those plays went to 12 games.

Games and drops

1,419 games were found by Foundplay and released in drops. 569 were submitted through the site, and 438 of those also went out with a drop. 539 were listed by Foundplay outside a drop, mostly the opening catalog. 2,253 are original games and 274 are mashups.

New games go out together in drops at 6 AM and 6 PM Pacific. 38 drops went out in October 2026, with 1,930 games: 50 a drop on average, from 12 to 111.

Plays

A play is a click on Play that sends someone to the game on its own site. 2,035 of the 2,527 games were played at least once, but plays were very uneven: the most played tenth of games (252) took 91.4% of them.

75.4% of plays came from people on computers and 24.5% from people on phones.

Plays by genre

Action games got the most plays, 48.8% of them. A game can have up to 3 genres and counts in each, so the shares add up to more than 100%.

Phones, multiplayer and AI

1,011 games (40%) were marked as playing on phones and got 61.4% of plays. 428 were marked as needing a keyboard, and the rest weren't marked either way. 480 games (18.9%) were marked multiplayer and got 35% of plays.

153 games (6%) were made with AI by our rule, and they got 16.2% of plays. A game counts only with evidence: an entry in an AI game jam (72), a game on an AI game maker's site such as Rosebud or Websim (36), a game on our Games made with Claude list (4), or a listing that says it in words, like “vibe coded” or “made with Claude” (41). Others may be made with AI without saying so, so this is a floor.

Coming back

From October 15 to October 31, 20.7% of visits came from a browser that had been on Foundplay in the 7 days before. We started keeping track on October 14, so this starts with the first full day after.

How we counted

  • Dates are Pacific time, from October 8, 2026, the day Foundplay opened, through October 31, 2026.
  • Games: every game live by the end of the month and not taken down before it ended. Plays of games taken down before then (161,033, mostly copies of commercial games) are left out of every number here.
  • Plays: clicks on Play that count publicly, the same plays as on Stats. Only clicks on Foundplay's own pages count, each game once a day per network address, with a daily cap across games. Clicks on sponsored cards count the same way.
  • Phones and computers: the device of the visit a play came from. Plays we can't place are left out of that split.
  • Phone, multiplayer and genre labels come from the listings: from creators, from Foundplay's review, or both. Nobody tested every game on every device. Unmarked games count as unknown, not as no.
  • Coming back: the first page of each visit, where the browser said whether it had been here in the 7 days before. Visits where it didn't say are left out.
  • Named games: original games only. Copies, fan games, rehosts, games played on another game portal and games taken down since are left out.
  • Totals only. Nothing here says who played.
  • Percentages are rounded down to one decimal. The numbers were worked out on November 2, 2026 and won't change.
